Dr. Ali laftah Abbas is Assistant Professor at Civil Engineering Department, University of Diyala. He has PhD degree in Structure Engineering in 2006, in 2000 received Master degree in Structure Engineering, and 1997 received a bachelor degree of Civil Engineering, all his degrees received from University of Baghdad, Iraq. He occupied many managing positions both in private sector and the governmental one. He was the chair for many committees in both University presidency and college of engineering.

At 1995-1998 I worked as Head of Engineering Affairs at College of Education. At 1998 I was lecturer at College of Electrical and Electronical Engineering- Diyala University. After MSc I worked as Coordinator for Information Technology Department 2001-2003. I participate in establishing Department of Computer and Programming at College of Engineering / University of Diyala as Head of Department from 2003-2005. I worked as lecturer for mathematics and engineering Drawing from 2001-2005. I participate in establishing Civil Engineering Department as Lecturer for the years 2005-2006. In 2007 I joined my PhD program in UKM/ Malaysia. In 2008 I was awarded Silver Medal for the best research paper at International Conference of Emerging Technology in Engineering which was held in Kuala Lumpor /Malaysia. I publish 29 research papers most of them were published in indexed journals. Moreover, I participate in 8 International Conferences and 1 national Conference. . Nowadays, I am Assistant Professor of Structure and Concrete Technology in the Civil Engineering Department, University Of Diyala, Iraq. I am lecturer for the subject of Concrete Technology/second year, Advanced Concrete Technology for post graduate studies, Sustainable Construction and Research methodology also for post graduate studies. Dr Mohammed Shihab Mahmood joined the University of Diyala as an assistance lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering in 2007, having completed his Civil Engineering BSc (first class degree) at the Military Engineering College (Baghdad) and Structural Engineering MSc at the University of Technology (Baghdad). He was subsequently promoted to a Lecturer in 2010. In 2015 he got a PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham (UK). Now, Dr Mahmood is the director of postgraduate studies at the Department of Civil Engineering.Mahmood main research areas are the performance of steel connections and the strengthening and rehabilitations of reinforced concrete structures.
